Histon Parish Council Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Council
- to advise on planning applications
- to maintain the Village Green, play area and brook, together with all other
areas of land owned by the Council; part of this land includes allotments, who
provision is a statutory obligation of the Council
- with Impington Parish Council, to administer and maintain the Recreation
ground
- to set an annual budget which determines the Parish Rate
- to nominate representatives on school governing bodies and other village
organisations
- to make note of and pass to the responsible authority for action any matter
of general concern to the village (traffic issues, planning, initiatives concerning
youth, public amenities, etc.)
The Council consists of:
15 Councillors who are elected every 4 years, including a Chairman
and Vice Chairman who are elected by the Councillors from their own number
Meetings
Meetings of the full Council are held once a month, on the second
Monday, and there are also occasional meetings of sub-committees
The monthly Council meetings normally take place at St Audreys
Community Centre, St Audreys Close, starting at 7.30 p.m. and are open to the
public. The Agenda to the meetings is always posted on the Parish Council notice
boards and the Minutes are deposited for public inspection in the Public Library.

The Council employs a part time Clerk.
