Work and Role of the Parish Councils

The primary role of the Parish Councils is to represent the parishioners on issues affecting the community, to District, County and Central Government.

In addition, the Councils carry out work in Histon & Impington as follows:

  • Maintenance of public spaces at (among others):
    • The Green;
    • Homefield Park;
    • South Road;
    • The Coppice.
  • Provide facilities and services, including:
    • The Recreation Ground;
    • Play areas;
    • The Cemetery;
    • Allotments.
  • Provide and maintain bus shelters, seats etc.
  • Comment on (but not decide) planning applications.
  • Nominate representatives on school governing bodies and other village organisations.
  • Support the work of charitable groups and organisations within the villages.
