Cycle Cambridge - B1049 pedestrian crossing at New Road - 23rd November start
Written 20/11/09
During the recent consultations on cycle related works in the village plans for improving the pedestrian crossings in the villages were shown. The first of these pieces of work will be to the B1049 crossing at New Road.
Mike Davies, Programme Manager for Cycle Cambridge, writes:
The existing pedestrian crossing over the B1049 at New Road is to be upgraded to a more modern crossing. This will be a big improvement for all users particularly the elderly and disabled, and will permit 'on road' cycle lanes to be introduced on the B1049 as part of the improvement package for cyclists. This is being funded through the 'Cycle Cambridge' Programme which is a partnership between local councils which seeks to increase levels of cycling.
Please note that work is now likely to commence this Monday, 23rd November as our crossings team have completed their last job quicker than expected.
If you have any questions or concerns as the work progresses, please contact my colleague Jason Murfitt who is managing the scheme on telephone 01223 699931 or email:
We're told that works may take up to 4 weeks, and those on the crossing by the War Memorial will follow on, but most probably in January after the Christmas break.
