A14 Draft Orders

Written 07/01/10

The Draft Orders (essentially the planning application for the widening of the A14) were open for consultation to January 6th. A joint submission from Impington and Histon was made (and received) as well as at least 42 objections from residents in the villages.

The main concerns were noise and air quality. Residents in the close vicinity of the works had other very real concerns, and there were questions about the validity of the whole scheme. The lack of a safe, segregated pedestrian and cycle crossing was also raised, and the Councils response also added drainage as a key issue for the community, as well as questions about the construction phase.

This is only the first phase of the process - a public inquiry is expected later in the year when more detailed "proofs of evidence" will be required.

The Councils' response is available online (Adobe/PDF, 74KB).
